It’s getting cooler here on the Central Coast of NSW, and while I still swim everyday as the water temp is the best this time of year, the breeze when you get out of the water is certainly not summery.
I have been exploring and contemplating the world of detoxing on all levels this last week; Physically, Emotionally, Spiritual, well Holistically. I have been in a form of personal retreat, no phone, not much travel further than the post office or store, eating cleanly, getting lots of sleep and my daily swim in the ocean, making some crafty things like a home made blackboard, and testing recipes, nothing too energetic or that requires too much interface with others. I had worn myself out on many levels, and this required a home retreat, and as the schedule would have it, I didn’t have any commitments further afield than locally this week. So…I thought I might give my digestion a rest and do a juice fast, but I just couldn’t get enthusiastic about that, (perhaps I can’t bear the thought of giving up my English tea). I was contemplating the change of seasons and my Vata imbalance and how that might be served in the best way, what came up…AYURVEDA.

Well here is my what seems to be quarterly news! My resolution this year is to get some juicy news and info to you more regularly.
There has been lots of happening in the last 12 months at The Holistic Chef headquarters, and during 2012 i met many many new beautiful people at:

I have broadened my horizons with amazing connections, starting up Group Healing work, and the production in the last 14 months of a total of 500 kilos of SSB! WOW, i can’t believe it, half a tonne, someone figured out that that is 50,000 serves of Green Magical Goodness on the planet. Blows my mind and brings a massive smile to my face! I have plans to extend the range, so let’s hope 2013 is that year!

Workshop News for Feb and March
There are 2 public workshops happening soon, Sydney February 23 and Brisbane March 3, at awesome venues. More venues and dates to be announced in the near future.

Healing Breathwork Workshops
In September last year I met the amazing Rancan Sisters at their studio in Mosman and they have been stocking SSB ever since and take it every day.
They asked about the Healing work I offer and then decided to host two truly fantastic Healing Breathwork Workshops and i also was a practitioner at the Peats Ridge Festival (wow, such an honour!)
This 3 hour experience, can assist you in: connecting with your internal compass – eternal truth, quietening the mind, help to shift areas within you and your life that may be stuck or blocked, and allow you to surrender to a sweet place of well being and peace.
My training in this modality was in the USA with reknowned Healer David Elliot.
I simply love facilitating these experiences for others to truly connect in, and open up.
Utilising the Breath, Music, Crystals, Sound, Essential Oils, and Sacred Herbs and Resins, it is a wonderful space.
The Rancan Sisters will be hosting workshops this year, the dates will be up on my website shortly.
Thermomix News
Have you seen this machine in action? I am a consultant for Thermomix, and just LOVE this amazing kitchen appliance. A day doesn’t go by that i am not found using it here at HQ making Superfood magic happen. I am able to do demos in your home, Sydney and Brisbane folks. (and those in between).
A six course meal in 2 hours, you really have to see it to believe it.

Private Retreats
I am still catering Private Retreats, and bringing Superfood and Whole foods nutrition to larger groups.
As part of this I now am also offering the Breathwork Healing Workshops within this service.
I can also enlist the amazing Yoga teaching skills from an array amazing teachers i know personally in Sydney, and Brisbane, so let The Holistic Chef look after all your Private Retreat needs in 2013.

About Superfood Workshops and SSB -
I attended Shakti’s Superfood Workshop after I started using the SSB (Shakti’s Superfood Blend) and I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop for so many reasons. First, Shakti is so natural and authentic in how she communicates. She had gone to so much trouble to feed us beautiful nourishing food which was plentiful!, she had prepared recipes and notes on superfoods as handouts (that I still refer to) and she encouraged us to ask questions, which we all did. The setting was intimate and you can see that she lives and breathes what she does. I learned so much, left overfull and with many ideas for incorporating superfoods into my family’s diet. It was a really fun way to spend the evening and I would encourage anyone conscious of what they put in their mouth to attend one of her workshops. As for the SSB (Shakti’s Superfood Blend), I cannot live without it. I notice an increase in my energy levels within minutes of taking it and with a newborn that keeps me up every night I rely on it to get me through the day. Often I have it twice a day! 40 grams raw cacao butter
30 grams extra virgin coconut oil
6-10 mint leaves finely chopped
110grams Activated Almonds
50 grams Brazil nuts
45 grams Incaberries
35 grams Goji Berries
6 Dates
40 grams Raw Cacao Powder
20 grams mesquite powder
20 grams maca powder
40 gram Desiccated Coconut
25 grams Coconut Sugar crystals
20 grams Dried Cranberries (apple sweetened)
½ tsp lavender leaves
In a completely dry double boiler or TM bowl, melt the butter and the coconut oil with the chopped mint leaves to infuse, set aside
In a blender or the unwashed TM bowl, blend the rest of the ingredients to desired texture, can be fine or chunky
Mix together by hand or in TM, the mix will be runny
Pour into a baking paper line Square baking pan, smooth out with spatula and place in freezer to harden
MINTY TOPPING
1 organic ripe avocado
10 mint leaves (i used chocolate mint)
50 grams of coconut butter melted
30 grams of coconut oil (or if you don’t have coconut butter just use all coconut oil total, 80grams) melted
30 grams raw honey or maple syrup
20 grams lucuma powder
1 tsp vanilla powder
Good grate of fresh cinnamon stick or ¼ teaspoon of powdered
Blend all ingredients well in Blender, TM, or with Stick blender will be thick and creamy
Spread over the Base and top with Hulled Hemp Seeds or Coconut and Set in freezer
Before cutting to store the slice/cake, place the pan on counter for 15 mins to soften slightly
Store between baking paper in fridge or freezer – enjoy
